Ignorance is Bliss

There were days when Jim Morales would sit and wonder what Jeremie, Aelita and their friends were up to. He's sit and wonder, ponder, and all but knock on Jeremie's door to figure out what was going on. But what if he'd really figured it out? What if he discovered that the fate of the world as he knew it laid in the hands of 5 middle schoolers…?

Some secrets need to be kept
Some stories should never be told
Some reasons shouldn't be understood
They just might turn your blood cold

Of course, outsiders weren't the only ones with unanswered questions and suspicions. There was also the matter of relationships inside of the gang. Was Yumi acting distant because of William? Ulrich would wonder. And did Jeremie and Aelita feel the same way?

Who needs all the answers?
Who takes all the chances?
Who said the truth's gonna save you?
When the truth can be dangerous

The gang, of course, left most of these questions unasked and, by default, unanswered. But to the one who was still re-adjusting to earthly customs, this wasn't good enough. Aelita had thought for hours, if not days, on end about Jeremie's feelings, and she still didn't fully understand her own. But would she risk it all just for an answer?

Aelita thought back to when Jeremie had first found her in Lyoko. She remembered nothing and no one; Jeremie, though, treated her as if she were real instead of the just the computer program they'd thought she was at the time. Jeremie had long since saved her and discovered her past. He truly was her hero. Would a person put that much time and devotion into something they didn't care deeply about?

I was a law onto myself

Who needs all the questions?
Who lost their direction?
Who said a lie's gonna break you?
When a lie could be dangerous

Aelita had now convinced herself that she was willing to take the risk. She trusted Jeremie and felt she knew him well… Why not just go for it? Their friendship could withstand anything… Right?

"Jeremie?" she called after a long day's work.

"Yes?"

Aelita paused; she'd run through what she was planning to say a million times over, but now that it was time to execute her plans, everything sounded askew. So, Aelita decided, there was only one possible thing she could do.

Ignorance is bliss
You're safe when you resist

She gave Jeremie a gentle loving kiss. She knew how it could affect their friendship, but you never know unless you try…

There's no safety in a kiss like this
It's dangerous

They parted, both red in the face. Aelita felt the adrenaline pulsing through her veins. She glanced nervously at Jeremie, who was frozen in place with a dazed expression.

Once Jeremie came back to earth, he murmured a simple, "Wow."
